Reno recap, week #3

The rebuild of the kitchen wing has been progressing at a rate of knots, with all groundwork completed this week in preparation for the pouring of the new slab. At the beginning of the week, the excavator was on site to dig the holes for the new footings, trenches were then dug to accommodate the reinforced ring beam for the new slab and the formwork was placed. The plumber was onsite to lay the pipework for the plumbing penetrations…we’re all set for Monday’s pour!

Inside, work commenced on reinstating the partition wall in the sitting room, returning it to its original two-room (bedroom) layout. In what was the farm office (to be converted into an en suite bathroom for one of the guest rooms) new walls have been constructed and a new floor is underway.

And with the aid of a heat gun, we’ve started the time-consuming task of stripping layers of paint from the doors, architraves, skirting boards and windows in the downstairs hallway and guest rooms to reveal the gorgeous cedar wood beneath.
