Spaces to call your own...

In addition to your comfortable bedroom, numerous guest areas are yours to enjoy - the farmhouse Kitchen & Lounge, the Library, the Garden Room and wrap-around Verandah.  Feel free to explore and discover a cozy corner that suits your mood - a quiet spot on the shady verandah to while away the hours with a good book, or grab a partner and settle down to a game of backgammon or cards in the Library or Garden Room.  If you'd prefer to spend time outdoors, then a stroll around the extensive gardens or a rousing game of croquet might be in order - if you can bear to leave the comfort of your sun lounger by the pool!

 

 

The Farmhouse Kitchen, Dining & Family Room

The kitchen, dining and family room annex is the heart of daily life at Terragong.
 
The exposed timber trusses, made from sustainably sourced Australian native woods including Blackbutt, Stringybark and Grey Gum, are a feature of the space and skylights flood the room with natural light.
With views of the eastern paddock from every window, a wood-burning fireplace and underfloor heating in winter, this is a welcoming space in which to relax with a book, watch a movie on the wide-screen 55" television and gather with other guests (if you are in the mood for company).
 
Breakfast is served here each morning at the kitchen dining table between 7.00am and 10.00am.

The Library
 
Stepping into the Library at Terragong is like stepping back in time to 1858.  The Library is an impressive yet intimate space, with its original cedarwood panelled 14' ceiling, floors of Fijian Kauri, window frames also of cedarwood and French doors leading to the Garden Room.  
 
The bookcases which frame the Carrara marble fireplace and mantle are bursting with a huge variety of books and magazines (not surprisingly many of which are interior and garden design titles, reflecting Darryl's two passions). 
 
Join us each afternoon in the Library from 4.30pm for an hour of complimentary wine and nibbles. 

The Verandah

Whether it's a shady spot to escape the heat of a summer's day, or shelter from a rain shower, the Verandah - overlooking the front lawn and magnificent trees of Terragong's woodland copse - is a perfect all-season spot to pass a relaxing hour or two.
 
The Verandah is furnished with classic Adirondack chairs and surrounded by cottage-garden flower beds and climbing roses (magnets for bees and butterflies alike), with an impressive Wisteria-covered pergola on the Western end.   

The Garden Room

Adjoining the Library and opening onto the Verandah, the Garden Room is a delightful spot to while away a few hours with your favourite book, a drink or two and admire the stunning view of the Jamberoo countryside through the expansive pane glass windows.  
 
Fully insulated and capturing the westerly sunshine, the Garden Room is cozy in winter with a warming cup of tea or hot chocolate to hand, and cool in summer with the windows opened wide to let in the refreshing breeze.

And for guests wishing to truly pamper themselves, the Garden Room is used regularly for in-house massage treatments provided by local practitioners.

The Swimming Pool
 
When the mercury climbs, there’s nowhere more refreshing to spend time than by our swimming pool.  Situated in a private spot with breathtaking views of the Jamberoo Valley and neighbouring farms, our 10 metre long salt water pool is perfect for an early morning pre-breakfast swim or a lazy afternoon spent soaking up the sunshine.  
 
Any time is a good time to grab a book, a beach towel (provided) and a bottle of suntan lotion and relax on the pool lawn or terrace.  At the end of a busy day sight-seeing, we highly recommend kicking back with a cool drink and taking in the views of the garden as the sun sets.  

The Gardens
 
Terragong House sits on 12 acres, consisting of a mix of pastureland and paddocks, woodlands, a remnant farm orchard and lawns.  The eastern paddock, approximately 6 acres in total, is still in use today as grazing land for our neighbour's dairy herd.  
 
The mature trees, including Magnolia Grandiflora, Morton Bay Figs and Norfolk and Bunya Pines, are of heritage interest (most estimated to be over 120 years of age) and provide an idyllic setting for the home. Remnants of the old farm orchard are to be found on the western side of the property and include pear, walnut, mandarin, crabapple and sugar plum trees.
